Four-color Fire Pattern is a collaborative video with Monica Duncan. In a desert landscape near San Diego, we shot four performers walking toward the camera from a distance in four takes; in each take they were dressed in one of the colors from the camouflage pattern.
In post-production we constructed a camouflage pattern mask in four tracks, or layers, and each color was assigned its own track. Each track plays simultaneously and as the performers approach the camera, their bodies fill the frame with the colors they are wearing, and the camouflage pattern is revealed.
